Opinions from different political parties, news outlets, the misinformed, and those misdirecting are all using the most recent school shooting to accomplish whatever their particular political goal may be. The suggestions for solving the problem range from the simple to the absurd. I can confidently assure you that not one proposal from anyone on either side of the aisle will work until we solve the most fundamental problem.

The greatest facilitator of school violence of all kinds is, in fact, the federal and local school board policies. In many of these situations, these policies enable and often inspire violence in the classroom.  Many local school boards under the guidance of the federal government and often in collusion with city officials not only passively breed violence, but on the most fundamental level encourage it!

The greatest facilitator of school violence of all kinds is, in fact, the federal and local school board policies.

In an interview with Laura Ingraham on February 23rd, Jeff Bell, a representative for the Broward County Sheriff’s Union, brought out something that is occurring in cities all across the United States. School boards are conspiring with cities, many times at the direction of the federal government, to minimize the appearance of crime in their schools which restricts law enforcement on school property. School officers at Parkland and many schools across the country are not allowed to actually enforce the law on school campuses. It won’t do any good to have resource officers in every school in America if they cannot enforce the law.

Somehow, without the citizens’ knowledge or consent, school boards have negotiated their own form of policing. Many times when students break laws like making threats, fights, drug possession, or even carrying weapons it is at the discretion of the school, not the police, to determine how they will handle the student. In many cases, school resource officers or local police are not allowed to arrest, serve warrants, or confiscate drugs on a local campus. So my question is: when was the school board given the legal right to create selective policing? In 2014 a federal effort was launched that gave rise to this insanity! In Broward County, it is called PROMISE.

It seems the very people who are lecturing us about the need for stricter gun control are, in fact, the very culprits who have made it so easy for a young criminal to purchase a gun.

Instead of enforcing the law they provide counseling, intervention, or positive reinforcement to violators; but even when laws are broken the police are not allowed to do their job. What this usually means is a violent, threatening student gets a slap on the wrist. He or she may be suspended for a day or two but is then allowed back in school, free to carry out their threats. Since no arrests are made, the student who has a record of violent attacks and death threats is able to pass a background check to purchase weapons. In my hometown of Huntsville, Alabama our city schools have a similar program called The Behavioral Learning Guide. This philosophical social experiment is causing a culture of lawlessness and violence in our schools. When violence breaks out, innocent students face worse consequences for posting pictures or releasing details of the event than the perpetrators. High school kids regularly see drug deals, fights, a display of weapons, threats of violence and all manner of lewd sexual activity.  The school hides these events, threatens the innocent witnesses, and then lies about it to the parents and the public. Sadly, responsible teachers face the same threat as the students who witness the crimes. The news media is not allowed on the campuses to report on crime, further ensuring that the public will never know the truth about the growing culture of violence. All of this seems suspiciously like obstruction of justice or aiding and abetting criminal activity! But this experiment in social engineering is far more important to the corrupt ideologues pushing it than the safety of innocent children.

It seems as if some teachers, principals, school boards and city officials are conspirators in concealing crimes and hindering lawful investigation, for which they should be, at the very least, fired. When they implement such programs without the knowledge or approval of the parents or without giving the parents an option for their children, it makes them complicit in the violence that follows.  When it results in the death of students they should be charged as co-conspirators. But that will never happen as long as the citizens are kept in the dark. It seems the social justice warriors are great at creating the “straw man argument:” blame video games, blame gun laws, blame anyone; do everything possible to ensure that citizens never realize the real problem: their children are not protected from violent and unstable students for one reason: the political agenda and the financial gain of those running our schools!

A student in Huntsville was recently on Facebook with a gun making threats which the school dismissed as “freedom of speech.” When asked why the student wasn’t arrested they claimed they couldn’t do anything because it occurred off campus. Hundreds of students who saw the video had to go to school in the following days with the knowledge of the threat, unsure of what they would face. These are the same types of events that built up to the Parkland shooting. One has to wonder how many schools following these suicidal policies are enabling the next school shooter!

As one parent disclosed, “Our school resource officers are leaving and some are retiring because their hands are tied; they are not allowed to do anything. They’re not willing to risk their lives over the stupidity.” Students are beaten up and threatened, teachers are physically and verbally abused with little or no consequence; there is no authority, no accountability, and no meaningful correction or consequences… but most of all, there is no protection for the innocent.

In Huntsville City Schools, even if you get expelled, it may only be for a day or at the most a few weeks and then you can come back. The administration hides the threats from parents so their attendance won’t drop costing them federal dollars. Students recently saw a gun in the lunchroom; the principal sent out a school-wide email to every parent saying there was not an incident. But a number of students confided that they did see the gun. Our kids have been told that if they video the violence and share it that they will be punished.

When I listen to the students from Parkland and other schools, as well as the students from Huntsville City Schools, I have to ask, “Why are we even pretending that “see something, say something” is actually an option?

When I listen to the students from Parkland and other schools, as well as the students from Huntsville City Schools, I have to ask, “Why are we even pretending that “see something, say something” is actually an option? Can a student actually “say something” when he or she will be threatened, silenced and possibly punished? To whom does the student report what he or she sees when the teachers, principal, and the school board are conspirators in the cover-up?   Then, of course, there is the million dollar question which was so clearly demonstrated by the FBI, city, and county law enforcement in the Parkland shooting: everyone who knew Cruz saw something and said something to the school, the county Sheriff’s department, the City Police and the FBI, but what good did it do?

Even when the perpetrator himself went onto social media and said he was going to kill people or shoot up schools, that too was meaningless because no crime has been committed… What?? Maybe the slogan needs to say, “We say something, you morons do something!”

The blatant hypocrisy of our federal and local departments of education is nauseating! A child can be expelled or arrested for drawing a picture of a gun or shaping his or her fingers to look like a gun and pointing at another student. But another student can make a fake bomb, bring it to school, and be invited to the White House to meet the President. A parent can be hauled before a judge for checking their child out before 11:30 too many times because, after all, that absenteeism costs the school money. But threatening to kill students and teachers… no problem! It is painfully obvious that the interpretation and enforcement of the law is not about protecting our children, but about how the event can be used for the benefit of a political agenda. So what good will it do to arm willing, qualified teachers when under the current policies they have to suffer violence without defending themselves?

It is painfully obvious that the interpretation and enforcement of law is not about protecting our children but about how the event can be used for the benefit of a political agenda.

The truth is, these school and local government officials are not interested in your child’s education or safety. Their actions say they are more committed to protecting their ideology, jobs, the school’s reputation, the city’s growth, and the flow of federal dollars than protecting innocent children. As stated by the union representative from Broward County and as witnessed in my own city, the school and the city are conspirators in a cover-up that has one goal: create a false image that makes the city and school marketable and keeps federal dollars flowing.

The first step to stopping violence in schools is to demand that your school board come clean about its policies!

The first step to stopping violence in schools is to demand that your school board come clean about its policies! If your school board, like ours, shuts the citizens out of the process of selecting the Board Superintendent, do not stand for it. Remember, these people have taken control of the school away from the tax paying citizens. The result is kids all across the country have died and yours could be next.

If you want to know if your children are safe, demand that your school board and city officials reveal their policies for policing on school campuses. Find out if students who make physical threats, sell drugs, participate in violence or lewd behavior are allowed back in school and put a stop to it! Demand that resource officers and local law enforcement can actually enforce the law and make arrests on campus as the law dictates. Demand that the local news media have access to the campus so there will be some public accountability. Demand that any teacher, principal, school board member, or city politician who has allowed the cover-up of violence, death threats, possession of weapons, or drug sales is fired immediately. Find out what is being hidden from you about your child’s safety!

Do not be deceived when your school board or city officials try to prove their ridiculous programs are working. They will show you a sharp decline in arrests in your school to prove their point. This is not an indication that crime has decreased; it is an indication that crime is now being permitted with no legal consequences. For the last 50 years, parents have only had to worry about the horrible education our children were getting in public schools. Now we have to wonder if they will live long enough graduate! Parents and citizens, take your schools back from the government!
